Ruben Verastigui was arrested on charges of possessing and receiving child pornography .
On his LinkedIn, it shows that Verastigui has worked for the Senate Republican Conference until July.
Also he has worked for the Republican National Committee, as an ad designer for Trump.
A press release from Washington D.C’s Metropolitan Police Department says that on Friday, 27 year old Ruben Verastigui was arrested on charges of distributing, receiving, and possessing images of child pornography.
The investigation that started in March of 2020 states that at that time he was working as a digital strategist for the Senate Republican Conference.
In July he left the position in order to become the communications manager at Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, a conservative green energy non-profit.
In the wake of his arrest, Verastigui was apparently fired.
On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions told The Daily Beast that
“The details of the allegations against Mr. Verastigui are tragic and shocking. He is no longer employed by the organization and we are prepared to fully cooperate with law enforcement requests in this matter to any extent needed.”
Verastigui has previously also worked from May of 2017, until July of 2018 as a senior designer for the Republican National Committee. In his role, designing ads for former president Donald Trump’s re-election campaign was also included.
He has also worked on several anti abortion organizations.
When the Homeland Security special agents were investigating a group of at least 18 people, who were active in trading child pornography, they came across Verastigui. Hesent messages to the group, in which he said he wanted to see “hardcore” videos.
According to the records, Verastigui allegedly asked another member of the group to go to DC “for the purpose of sexually abusing a minor.”
And according to court documents, Verastigui admitted to being active on the website upon his arrest on Friday.
